Help a Student Get to Conference
For thousands of college students, FOCUS Conference has been a life-changing experience that brings them to realize the freedom that only God’s love can offer. Unfortunately, for many students, the financial cost of travel, lodging, and registration creates an obstacle in accepting an invitation to attend. At FOCUS, we know that finances should never stand in the way of the opportunity to discover faith and the beauty of Christ’s presence in His Church.

Conference Stories

“God works in every single thing we do, big and little. For National Conference 2010, I raised money to help get myself and others to Orlando. I called the mother of one of my good friends to see if she would be interested in supporting me and others in getting to the conference, and she was very generous in her help!
After getting off the phone with her, I called her son just to chat for a bit. I told him I was going to Orlando for FOCUS National conference and what it was all about. It took only a simple invitation from me to get him to come and God did the rest.
He decided that weekend he needed to make a radical change in his life and run for Christ. His life has totally changed because of God doing something so amazing though something as simple as an invitation.”

“I went to a FOCUS National Conference informational meeting, called my mom, and signed up to go that night. I felt I should save my money for my travels studying abroad in England during the spring semester, but I felt it was more important to go to Florida and build a foundation that would help me [in England]. As it turned out, a generous sponsor paid for the 38-hour bus ride that took us to Conference. That was a huge blessing!
The speakers and people I listened to and met at conference impacted my life and gave me hope that there are people that I can look up to and be guided by. In England, I read the Bible every night before going to sleep and I go to Eucharistic Adoration weekly here in England.
God has plans for all of us better than we can foresee for ourselves for sure! Thank you for the opportunity to see God's work in fellow students.”

“I wasn't even planning on coming to FOCUS National Conference, but some of my FOCUS missionary friends convinced me to go about a week before. I thought it would be fun because it was in Orlando and all of my college friends would be there. Still, I was coming to Conference at a very bad point in my life. I was severely depressed and angry with God because of some recent heartbreaking news I’d received from my doctor. I refused to talk to God, and I hadn't for at least 3 months. So the closer I got to Conference, the more nervous and afraid I became…
…[It was at Conference], where I finally learned the meaning of redemptive suffering- and how lucky I was that Jesus might ask me to suffer with Him like this. I have never felt so sure of God's plan for me, and I have never felt so much trust in Him. I knew He still loved me and cared for me, and now I knew what He wanted me to gain from this- He wanted me to trust in Him completely! He wanted me to give up MY plans for his own. He was pursuing my heart- because without this situation happening to me I never would have been so convicted of God's plan for me and my purpose- that I truly am made for more…”
